Today is NFL Kickoff weekend. Do not play Everquest. Do not play SWG. Do not turn on your computers. Go downstairs, watch football, and don't be facists. That is all.

For those of you who missed it, my Vikings bitch slapped Brett Favre all day long, intercepting 4 of his passes in the hallowed Lambeau Field. Now that's a good way to break in a new stadium.

Radx doesn't have to watch football. I doubt Mindy would let him anyway.

Everyone who played EQ today instead of watching football is evil. Everyone who played EQ while watching football is crafty. Everyone who watched EQ while playing football is f*cked up.

LOL.  GO PACKERS!  /sob.  I was going for packers today because so many wanted vikings.  lol.  And - your meaningless joy over Brett getting slapped around, well -- he's the only one with more concussions under his belt than Young so it's obvious he gets slapped around alot.

I'd just like to add that even though my Broncos' new QB throws passes about as well as I do they still whipped up on the worst franchise ever.

That is all.

Sports? What are they? TV? What is it?

/em is confused and ponders the meaning of such things...

Well, I am not much of a TV or sports fan, so I think I will pass on football and work on my shaman today. :)

Have fun!

I agree.... NCAA Football >> Pro in a big way.

Not uno but...

/rant on

College sports in general are better to me than the pro leagues. The biggest reason in my mind is becuase 99% of pro players could honestly careless about the game or their fans so long as that million-dollar paycheck comes in and everyone knows they are the best. Bunch of overpaid, whining, crybabies. And I'm not just talking about the players but coaches and owners as well. Granted college isn't innocent or pure. It is also far from it. But there is a big difference in college and pro with regards to players and coaches enjoying the game.  Plus in college there is a loyalty among fans and alumni that will never be there with pro teams.  That loyalty sets it apart.  You will see the stands near capacity during bad times of many college teams, but if the most popular pro team has a bad year the stands will be empty.

There is also a plague in pro sports with parity. The bad teams are still pretty decent (Cincinnati bungles excluded) and the good teams really aren't that good. They've just had good luck with injuries and free agent pickups. This year's champion will in most cases be next years chump because all the stars will go free agent and luck only holds for so long. It's so vanilla and boring that it's not worth the trouble to keep up with. Sadly the plague of parity has also been sneaking around college sports for a while. It just hasn't become as bad as the pro game.

/rant off

But the Big 10 err 11 err whatever its called ;)?  SEC baby

And for the record, I spent all day yesterday in Tuscaloosa for the Bama-OU game.  We (Bama) came up on the short end of the game, but it was a decent game (different rant) and night games always rock in Bryant-Denny Stadium.  There's plenty of time for even the casual drinker to get liquor'd up by the time kickoff rolls around.

I agree, NCAA is better, but I forgot how much I like the NFL too... today reminded me of that.

The ACC is the best conference in college football, though.

BIGGEST UPSET!!!  HOUSTON OVER MIAMI!!! HAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAH  HAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAAHAHH  HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHAA

Denver is going nowhere with Jake the Fake.
My Fourtyniners are BACK!!!  Well let them beat someone that's good before I claim that.
Kansas City looks good, Chargers stinky dinky doo.
Oakland Raiders had to be the worst coached team of the day, 150+ yards in penalties, screwed up the last potential winning drive with 3 consecutive rookie type mistakes!!!
Seahawks looked better than last year.
Bills over Patriots 31 to ZIP!!  HAHAHAHAHAHAH
Saint Louis needs to shelf Warner for Bulger but Mike Marxs Ego is TOOO FOOKING BIG for his own good.  Rams will suck AGAIN, and Kurt Warners wife needs to grow her hair out or come out of the closet!
Colts high powered offense only scoring 9 points but still beating the lonely BROWNIES!!!  SAD SAD SAD for both pathetic teams!
Detroit looked very good, but against Arizona doesn't matter, stop playing Canadian Football Cardinals, and try a real NFL team.

MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I predict the score tomorrow to be, Philly 17-Tampa Bay 16

ACC?  That basketball conference? BAH... come back when the canes and hokies are there and you will have something.  I wish the SEC would have booted some dead wood and picked up some stronger teams like Miami or VT.  I will admit the ACC did pretty well last year.  Maryland kinda came out of nowhere to become decent.  I just wish the other teams in the ACC would stand up and send saint bobby into retirement.  He's probably the most overrated head coach in history.  That he is even mentioned in the same sentence with coaches like Bryant and Paterno sickens me.

Sorry to educate you folks but the best overall football conference will be, as it always is, the Big 12.  5 teams in the top 25 at the moment.  3 in the top 10.  You don't get any more competitive then that.  Hell even those losers down in Austin can throw the pigskin around a bit.
Title: Sooo Don't Care.
Post by: unoshato on September 08, 2003, 01:57:48 PM
I Don't watch sports on Tv.  If my TV is on it must be friday saturday or sunday night and britcom's must be on otherwise i dont bother watching tv at all.  After I quite drinking 8 years ago i discovered something about myself.  Watching sports on TV (yes any sports) bores me.  I find it boring to sit on my couch and watch guys who make millions of dollars fight over a piece of leather.
I find the announcers of these events stupid and I would happily AXE-Murder them and their whole families.  I hate when something crucial is happening on the field and these tardo announcers are telling us that Joe bob down there number 54 well his grandma makes awesome cookies.. I SO DONT CARE.
The average telecast of an american football game is 4 hours.  4 hours of your life.  I learned something about myself once i got sober.  My life did not change in any way state or form if my fav hockey or football team won or lost.  My life did not end if the Chiefs lost to the Bronco's, The world did not end and the Sky did not fall.  But what did happen was I found previously unused hours and hours of my life on the weekends and monday night with which i could now write and game and have fun.  See i figure sitting on my ass watching other people do things whilst i lay about doin jack all was a massive waste of my time.  and that is all we have in this life is our time here.  does my team winning a football game better my life in any way?? no not really.  Do i accomplish anything at all towards furthering my goals and dreams by watching football for 8 hours on saturday 8 hours on sunday and 4 more hours on monday?  NO.  Do i feel sorry for all the hours of my life i wasted sitting in front of the TV accomplishing nothing knowing those are hours and hours of my life i WILL never get back.  NO.
At least when your playing a game, like eq or whatever.  Your PLAYING your doin something your not mindlessly listening to Madden harp about someone's blocking being so strong he could push over a bus or some stupid crap. and NO COMMERCIALS at all in EQ.. well except the frigging auction channel but i turn that off on all my characters since i dont like commercials.

P.S. btw We are friends Axe and your a really kewl guy but I wont go back to watching sports again, I have found the world away from mindlessly watching others do things to be elightening and fun.. sorry bro. but you have fun blowing off your life and doin nothing k.

I especially like the /rant about watching TV is a waste of your life...P. What the hell is EQ? i mean seriously if a 3 or 4 hour once or twice on the weekend is a waste of part of your life what is 6,8,10 hours of EQ almost everyday then? Anyway im a big east fan and very curious what the actual outcome will be next year with them since Miami and company are moving to the ACC. And the best conference stat wise is without a doubt SEC. One other team im keeping an eye on is Marshall that small school about an hour from me that i spent 4 years of my life at. They did an awesome job agianst Tennessee saturday and I dont see anyone else competing against them the rest of the year..........

The same rant of "you're blowing x number of hours in your life doing that meaningless something" could be made against just about everything.  Just in the last year or so I've heard that argument against eq (and video games in general for that matter), work, sports, partying... it's a long list.  Point is, if you are bored with something or you've decided you don't enjoy something anymore then move on.  Don't come back and berate those who are still enjoying it.  Personally, I used to watch a ton of TV.  But in the last several years I've hardly watched TV at all.  It's the same boring crap over and over and over and over and over.  New cast, new director, new writer, new name, same garbage.  Video games are fast approaching this state.  The games are the same; they just repaint the graphics and add a twist to it.  MMORPG's like EQ are the latest somewhat original thing that's happened in gaming.  But that's my opinion and I'm not going to stand on a soapbox and point a finger at those who do enjoy it and accuse them of wasting their time.  If you like it, then enjoy it.

As far as mindless and not thinking goes, I played sports in high school and still have an interest in following what's going on.  I agree that announcers have gotten lame in the last 10 years.  It's part of the whole marketing thing currently ruining sports.  That's a different rant.  I miss the old school announcers who called the game instead of trying to get inside the heads of players.  Hell, most of the time the player wasn't thinking at all.  He was simply reacting to the play.

Hmmm, there was a point to be made somewhere but I lost it...

Anyway, Big 12 is always best? Whatever!  They haven't even been the Big 12 for more than 10 years.  The Big 8 was always Nebraska, OU, and sometimes Colorado and a pack of pushovers to pad the schedule.  Yeah, the Big 12 has been on top in the last few years, but Texas and Oklahoma only recently got back into the pack at the top.  The rest of the Texas bunch didn't really add anything to the Big 8.  Nebraska has slipped several notches in the last few years and Colorado hasn't been the same without Neuhiesal (I can never spell his name right).  K-state is living on borrowed time with their upper class juco teams.  I can even remember when old school Big 8 people were talking like adding the SWC relics was a bad idea and having a championship game was a mistake because it could potentially kept their one good team (Nebraska at the time) from playing for the national title.  But hey, what do I know; I just wear my crimson colored glasses and smile ;).
Title: playing..
Post by: unoshato on September 08, 2003, 03:36:31 PM
playing eq is actualy participating in something most folks play it as an escape from the humdrum of life and I personally play it so I can murder without the jail time :P

Again I stand by my statement sitting and watching sports on TV is a waste of my time. No matter how much I would yell at the screen and no matter what happened I could not make madden shut up and I could not make the ref's change stupid calls and penalty's.  And again it had no effect on my life whatsoever if some team I liked won or lost a game.  Eq on the other hand is something a person can participate in and "gasp" have fun doin.

Now I know this must seem strange to you guys who do in fact enjoy thinking that sitting and watching the TV and esp watching sports on TV is a fun and life enriching experience but trust me, try reading a book.  You get the same life-enrichment minus the commercials and you might actually learn something.

Knowing who has the most rushing yards or Hat-tricks is a waste of space in the brain.  How many times has your knowledge of sports stats actually done more the impress someone with less information? has it ever won you money? has the knowledge of sports statistics ever bettered the world? no.

Has organized Society placed such a value upon vegitating for hours each week in front of the tube that life, happiness, and personal satifaction have now come to be measured in terms of your sports trivia knowledge? If so then I assure you I am the dumbest, most unelightened man who ever walked this earth.  But most of you knew that already.

To me who won last weeks Game is as irrelivant to my day to day life as the average wheat crop yeilds in Spain in the year 1124.  It does not effect me as a person it does not effect the world around me (except stadium highway traffic jams and the occasion RIOT on the news when some team has lost.) and it most certainly does not matter one whiff to me if or if not some team won or lost.  Because I happen to not care, I found better uses for my time and much better information to clog my brain up with.  It's called books you should look into it sometime. Might change your life.

P.S. art .. your reply came in while i was typing this one. I was not in fact berating folks in general I was belittling Axe because he asked me (see top of post) to stop playing eq and go watch TV.  Which is something i find a stupid waste of my time and do it as little as possible.  Yes eq is a waste of time sometimes as well, but alot of times I actually have fun playing it and I enjoy meeting and hanging out with folks all over the world.  personally i find that particiapating in a game, Like eq is miles from sitting and mindlessly watching the game on tv but that is my opinion.

IMO EQ > TV.  Few basic reasons why.

1.  Tv is not really interactive.  TV won't hug you back =)
2.  EQ is cheaper $$ than cable
3.  I know this is a long shot and will probably get eaten up and spit out but....I really think people learn some of life lessons in EQ (in some basic form).  Forces you to work together to accomplish some common goal, figure out strategies and customize standards for your individual needs, team work, making goals for yourself, learning to get along with others with different views and backgrounds, learning value of good communication skills, leadership skills, etc.

Mindy is the girl that shall never leave my heart.

If you care for someone then express yourself to them before you lose them.

If you find a person that you would give your life for keep them they will bring you happiness.

/em bites his fingers off to refrain from wholesale flaming the forum

Yeah, I'll grant you that the experience of doing something online with people from all over the world is somewhat better than being by yourself watching a game on TV.  I actually have season tickets and going to a game with 85,000 other people is a completely different scenario than watching it on TV.

There is a whiff of blind hypocrisy there that I'm just going to let go.  I admit I am very passionate about football.  They don't call it a religion down here for nothing.  And I take it personally when someone acts like they are taking the high road by belittling a something I enjoy (on TV or in person) and calling it irrelevant.

That being said, I'm walking away from this thread before my blood pressure pops a vein.

Trust Uno to derail my thread about football discussion.  Just to have fun with the point since I am bored anyway this morning.  I read at least one book a week, I can quote Nitchzke (spelling most likely) and Socrates, I can do advanced mathmatics and yes I am a huge sports fan.  I have owned season tickets to every sports team in this market for as long as I can remember earning money.  Why?  Because it's something I enjoy.

Who gives a rats ass what you choose to do with your weekend.  If you enjoy EQ, play it.  If you prefer watching football games, do that.  Calling each other losers and life wasters is ridiculous and quite frankly I'm really sad that this post, like so many others degenerated into name calling.

And all i can say is:

HEAL, MICHAEL,  HEAL!!!!!

I'm from Vancouver. When the Canucks were in the Stanely Cup a few years ago there were almost nightly riots in the downtown area. Win or loose there was a riot. My boyfriend at the time advised me not to go with the gang to the local sports bar to watch the games because he was affraid I'd get hurt.

See I'm one of those people who enjoys a good play. I don't care who makes the play or who scored. To me the thrilling thing is seeing them do such a good job. Therefore I tended to cheer whenever a good play was made even when it was against the Canucks. Most times this wasn't a problem people rarely took offence and most thought it was funny. However he was worried that during Stanley Cup fever I'd be putting myself in danger. He was actually worried that I would be in danger of physical assault if I cheered when New York scored or made a good play.

Think about this and what this says about people. I think it says alot.

You realize of course that I was kidding. Play EQ, don't play EQ, watch football, don't watch football, do whatever you want. It's your life after all.

However, just because I watch football on weekends with my friends does not mean that I don't read or partake in other hobbies. Furthermore, watching football with a group of friends is a lot more social that playing EQ, in that it involves actual human interaction and not conversation in a cyber based society. When you get right down to it, EQ is and always has been a glorified chat room in which you pretend to hit stuff.

QuoteAgain I stand by my statement sitting and watching sports on TV is a waste of my time.

Remember, you are not in control. Sony is.

QuoteNow I know this must seem strange to you guys who do in fact enjoy thinking that sitting and watching the TV and esp watching sports on TV is a fun and life enriching experience but trust me, try reading a book. You get the same life-enrichment minus the commercials and you might actually learn something.

I have read more books than I have watched football games.

QuoteKnowing who has the most rushing yards or Hat-tricks is a waste of space in the brain. How many times has your knowledge of sports stats actually done more the impress someone with less information? has it ever won you money? has the knowledge of sports statistics ever bettered the world? no.

Has knowing when to FD, where to pull a mob, how much HP a mob has, or the important details of a particular zone actually impressed anyone, won you money, or "bettered" the world?

QuoteTo me who won last weeks Game is as irrelivant to my day to day life as the average wheat crop yeilds in Spain in the year 1124. The assumption that you are more intellectual that me because you don't watch football either annoys or amuses me. I can't decide which yet.

In conclusion, the notion that playing Everquest is in any way a "better" use of one's lesiure time than any other hobby is laughable. You have chosen to spend a good portion of your lesiure time talking with people you don't really know, whereas I have chosen to not do so any more. Watching football is one of the things I do enjoy, especially in the company of friends. The suggestion that this makes us illiterate is asinine.

Of course, that's just my opinion

And EQ is just a break from your boring , Sad , hectic, stressful, annoying or just a pain in your side life or any others u can think of. I like playin EQ u actually interact and have fun with people you know but don't know at the same time. I think out of a week i watch 4hours of tv and that's at the max i normally watch 2 hours just to see whats on etc. My rule is Do what u think is fun if u don't then what is worth living for. Dude the ACC is so the best conference now, and next year it'll just be even stronger with Miami and VT.  That could be a bad thing, since that means nc state is gonna have to play miami every year...

In this season alone, florida state, nc state, virginia, maryland, and wake forest have all been in the top 25.  With the exception of duke, every single acc team has won a bowl game within the last 2 (or was it 3?) years.

Just wait until my wolfpack knock the buckeyes outta second place this saturday, and Phillip Rivers takes home the Heisman.

And on a side note, I've never been able to use my amazing EQ skills/and or abilities to impress a girl.  I haven't really been able to impress any with my sports knowledge either.  However, once I met this girl who absolutely loved college football (and knew even more about it than me) and I was in love.

Of course, if I met a girl with a 65 Shadowknight, I'd prolly fall in love with her too ;)

hahahha i wont even respond to all your points axe since tempers are high except to say this ... sitting around with a room full of guys and girls watching TV and esp watching sports all the while drinking yelling for folks to shut up so you can hear and eating potato chips is well .. not my idea of fun...

since A.)  I dont drink and I find folks who are drunk/tipsy to be asinine and yeah they try to talk logic and intellectually(or else try to get into fights with me, either verbally or otherwise) but  frankly they are kinda drunk so are talking nonsense, yet will yell out how intellectual (IE culture and intellect based on the lowest mob mentality of watch folks hurt each other, which is sooo intelectual)  they are at any given moment.

and B.) again it is four hours of commercials and retarded announcers folks try to tell me to shut up so they can hear yet dont pay attention to anyways.

---but whatever axe you made a statement, I responded, and you have spoken on this subject with me before and should have prolly known this one was coming.  So think what you want former skirt wearing cheerleader, my point was participating in a game is far more fun and exciting then sitting around watching others do so, esp if you have to sit thru asinine commercials.

Ok, I was walking away, but one post must be responded to...

wtf are you smoking souls?

So far this year Virginia was embarassed by South Carolina.  A team expected to fight Kentucky for second worst team in the SEC east.

Maryland was beaten by ... what was that team again?  Northern Illinois something?  (I hestitate to mention this actually, Bama plays NIU in a couple of weeks at a bad time in our schedule.  Upset in the making.)

NC State was pwned by Wake Forest who has been a doormat for decades.  OSU should easily deal with NC State.  But I have my doubts as to how strong OSU really is this year.

And don't claim the GT upset over AU this weekend because most of us have been watching the soon to be trainwreck at AU with amusement.  They suck in the worst way.  They may get it together before the end of the year.  But I doubt it.  Their best chance in the last 50 years to one-up Bama and they're going to fumble it away while eating each other alive.

That leaves... FSU.  A real surprise there ;).

NCSU only lost to WF because their all-star RB T.A. Mcclendon went down with an injury late last week and it totally messed up their game plan.  I'm praying he'll be back on saturday.

But WF is ranked 21 this week and hell they could be a serious contender if they win a few more big games.

I hate FSU, so I don't really claim them anyways.

Virginia is also having serious injury troubles with the 2nd best QB in the country, Matt Schaub (Rivers is #1 of course) down for several weeks.  I've honestly never thought that much of Maryland but a lot of other people seem to like them ;)

And meeting a woman with a male 65 shadowknight would be great if she played on the same server, I suppose.  Err, not that my character is female or anything.  You must be bugged.

Sigh. I now know what it must be like to argue with a brick.

I'm willing to let this die except for 2 final points.

1) You have serious stereotyping issues.
2) You are not as all knowing as you think you are.

Next year the ACC might be able to contend for some national prestige. This year though, they're just going to continue to get bitch slapped. My cousin at Virginia was crying to me yesterday about how weak his conference is. Of course, since he's a Patriots fan, he was in a bad mood to begin with.

The Big 12 is the best conference in the country right now.

So wait. Looking down from the towering heights of your staggering intellect. After telling me your going drop it.  You reach thru the vast repertoire of your immense and clearly superlative vocabulary and tell me I am dumb as a brick.
Wow I am awestruck sir.  But yes lets do drop the subject since as you say I am obviously in the wrong about this subject.
On a funny note I would like to point out that your inferring my intellect is on par with a rectangular block of stone is in a way you stereotyping me into the "well he doesn't watch sports and doesn't have a law degree thus must be stupid" category. Or it could just be that I hit a bit to close to the mark with my -

"sitting around with a room full of guys and girls watching TV and esp. watching sports all the while drinking yelling for folks to shut up so you can hear and eating potato chips is well .. not my idea of fun"

-remark and you felt the need to lash out from the lofty heights of your massive brain's intense ponderings and squash the insect complaining about societies norm's below your feet. Perhaps it is a bit presumptuous of me to think your football watching parties are like that maybe yours are different and you all have the game on but it is muted and your dissecting Poe and Shakespeare verbally while sipping a rare white wine from an ancient vintage and waxing poetically about historical contests in the arena at Rome and its relevance to today's organized sports leagues.

I didn't say you were as dumb as a brick. If I was going to say that, I would have said "Uno, you're as dumb as a brick." Similes have their place in this world after all. However, what I said was that, "I now know what it must be like to argue with a brick." In this, I am referring to your inability to see things from any perspective other than your own. Therefore, presenting you with a differing opinion would most likely bounce off you, perhaps like a ball bounces off of a... say... brick wall?

Back to the real world now. I can't find my out basket. I don't think I got an out basket. Come to think of it, I don't have an in basket. So why, oh god why, are all these folders on my desk?

Guys and girls,  and  undead (/nod to Nyte)

NOBODY WAS CALLING ANYBODY DUMB, STUPID, RETARDED, RABBIT-LIKE, OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT!

Everyone has differing views on  things.   Remember we are all friends here,  and treat wach other with respect due to colleagues, if not kindred spirits.

With this sentiment in mind,  i would like to switch the topic,

Vivace  doesnt like french silk pie.

Whats the worst pie of all time to you?

IMO,  mincemeat pie  is quite nasty.   Meat belongs on a BBQ  not in a delectible pastry crust.

Pie, anyone?

Personally I think you're both being brick walls and I'm getting tired of this pissing contest.

To sum up

Uno doesn't like to watch sports on TV because he thinks its boring and hates the announcers.

Axe and Art do like to watch sports on TV and take offence that Uno says they are boring.

Everyone else understands that everyone is entitled to their opinion and therefore do not take offence that someone finds their favorite pass time boring.

Conclusion

You're being idiots. You're oversensitive and you're projecting.

Uno does not think nor did he say people who watch sports are loosers or life wasters. He simply stated he thinks its a waste of his time. Uno is in the minority. There are 3 billion stations dedicated exclusively to sports therefore the vast majority believe watching sports is a worthwhile pastime. If you think his first post was an attack on you individually then you need to step back and think about it. Perhaps you should examine why you're projecting. Perhaps deep down inside you agree with Uno however because you enjoy the activity you want to keep doing it. If this is true stop feeling guilty and just do what you like to do. No one thinks less of you for doing it.

Uno hun calm down. You are being deffensive. You are in the minority and therefore oversensitive about this issue. A simple I don't watch sports because I find it boring would have sufficed. Or you could have just ignored the thread like the rest of us who can't be bothered about sports. Anyone who knows you is well aware you think the best defence is a good offence but it really wasn't necessarry in this situation.

Axe hun get real. He may be sterotyping but come on maybe 5% of the people watching sports aren't involved in a scenario like the one depicted by Uno. And where on earth did you get the idea he thinks he's omniscient. In case you haven't noticed he like to argue. He doesn't think he knows everything he just isn't affraid to state his opinion on everything. Loudly and often.

QuoteYou have chosen to spend a good portion of your lesiure time talking with people you don't really know, whereas I have chosen to not do so any more. Watching football is one of the things I do enjoy, especially in the company of friends. The suggestion that this makes us illiterate is asinine.

Read it again. He didn't say watching sports made you illiterate he said in his opinion you'd be better served reading instead of memorizing sports stats.

Actually he likes to spend the majority of his leisure time with me his girlfriend. We like to play EQ with our friends. Some are playing arcross town and some are playing across the world. And he WAS able to use his eq skills to impress and get a girl (me). The skills he's learned in EQ HAVE directly affected his life. He types much faster then he used to and he can use the windows platform now (he's a mac person). He has also gotten better at research from looking up mob info.

Here's my blanket stereotype statement for today all ex anything (smokers, sports watchers, eq players) are high and mighty borish jerks. Just becasue they quit doing something they no longer enjoy doing they think anyone who still does it is an idiot, weak willed, and a sheep of the system. Just becasue you no longer have pleasure doing something doesn't mean another person can't still find enjoyment doing that same thing. Quitting something that many other people do doesn't make you superior to them. I hate all self righteous exes.

Finally I'd like to say I like lemon merigue (however you spell it) pie. I prefer it with a graham crumb crust. I don't like mince meat pie. That 4 sticks of butter pie sounds pretty gross but 4 sticks is a pound and it takes a pound of butter to make toffee so I'll withhold judgement on that one till I can actually try it.

Just for clerical reasons, does that apply to people who have quit Keepers as well?

Post by: Fizelle on September 08, 2003, 09:08:46 PM
It would only apply if I spent my time telling people who were in Keepers that they were wasting their time. Or if I thought the people who stayed in Keepers were weaker or inferior to me for staying in Keepers. Or if I spent my time trying to enlighten them and get them to change their ways.

Nice try though.

I think Laiynla says it best...

PIE > ALL

But myself, it am torn by many passions...

Apple Crisp Ala Mode (or Apple Pie Ala Mode)
Chocolate
Cheese... Hmm.. Cheese
Classical music played loud in a dark room with eyes closed
A good book

And so many more... we are each distinct and different, yet there is much that binds us together... why argue over personal opinion...

As for a very good pie that is easy to make I recomend a Custard Pie.  For those of you with cats watch out.  I watch my last cat fly across the room when my father found her munching on his custard pie before he got a slice.....the cat limped for a week.

Never liked pie's very much.  The pecan pie and sweet potatoe pie are probably the only ones I've eaten very much.  Now a 4 layer delight (dunno if it has a different name) is awesome.  I've never made it personally (I'm too lazy to cook), my grandmother makes it occasionally.  Thick crust layer on the bottom thats mostly crushed pecans and something else (I forget).  One layer above the crust is pretty much pure confection sugar (a box or two, i forget) with some other stuff mixed in like philly cream cheese, butter, eggs... its a long list.  The next layer is chocolate pudding (or whatever flavor pudding you prefer) and a top layer of whipped cream.  Thats about the only truely rich sweet that I eat.
