Post by: Leiyah on January 01, 2004, 06:42:41 PM
mmm...BCS...mmm...

GO BOILERMAKERS!!!!!

QB is pretty good but does no good for us sitting in the locker room getting x-rays already ><  Stats are pretty close - good receivers - one less conf loss - defense vs. defense??  should be a good game and damn Dawgs just scored again.....    Is it too early to have a drink?

GO TROJANS!!!!

Not only is it fun to cheer for "trojans" but I really hate Michigan.  USC seems to have decent special teams and a good QB but Wolverines offense really pisses me off.  Hopefully coming off a really long streak of wins for the season will keep the momentum going for USC.

OMG FUMBLE x3???   WTF was he thinking with all those red shirts without established possession???  Hopefully we'll still end up with the ball because of the flag for the first fumble recovery.  THIS IS SO STRESSFUL!!! Only a 75 seconds to score again.....

Is there any other John Williams?  hehe

Aye, the Saint himself.  Directed the National Anthem at the beginning of the Rose Bowl this afternoon - combo bands of UM and USC.  The stadium had colored papers to make the flag -- was pretty awesome...but John Williams as my conductor...  Just...WOW.

Pasadena is going much better than ealier today.  Couple close calls but it hapens.

I had Fredrick Fennell directing me once upon a time for some nameless event... at the time I was ignorant and didn't know who he was. He's about 200 years old though, and he wears those dalai lama clothes robes from the 70's. He was pretty cool for an ancient guy. Only person I've ever seen who conducted sitting down.

Now - that's a great ending.  Michigan is the suck0rz!  Was hoping for a big fat Wolverine goose egg but oh well =)  It was wonderful seeing their QB get blind sighted and completely leveled a few times.

Few more good games coming up over next couple days.  Sugar Bowl is a definite watch.

p.s. Kenlaen...call in sick bro =)

Was great I laughed at Leiyah the whole time and still am. Just cause she wanted OU to win. HAHA. Now what we need is one poll to vote USC #1...

Cue college football playoff argument, take number 30....

I've always been a big supporter of the bowl system and believe its part of what has made college football unique and fun.  But this mess with USC has made it clear that we need some sort of playoff to take some power out of the hands of self absorbed sports media and coaches' stooges who actually vote for the coaches (usually a grad assistant who sends in the vote).

Make an 8 team playoff with the 6 major conference winners (yes OU didn't deserve to be there due to not winning their conference) and 2 at large picked from the conference winners of all the nobody conferences.  These would most likely be Conf USA, MAC, Mnt West or WAC.  This year it would have likely been Boise ST and Miami Ohio.  There should be no teams playing for it all that can't even win their own conference.  And yes this will force most conferences to have a champ game.  ND will have to be drug into either the Big 11 or Big East or be left out altogether.  If there are to be general at large teams, there needs to be a simple football type of RPI (ala bball)  based on record, opponents record, opponents opponents record, and conference strength.  NO MORE FRIGGIN POLLS PLEASE!!!!!

What I don't want to see happen is for the regular season games to turn into the NFL where you can afford losses and still win the super bowl.  But it will be inevitable.  If the bowls are kept around, use the major bowls as first round games.

Hell, if they are determined to keep the BCS just make a provision where if more than 2 teams deserve it after bowl games that a one game playoff will occur the week after the last bowl.  Granted the powers that be in college football (ie money holders) will do what they can to ensure there are at least 3 with a claim going into bowls, but at least people could quit drooling over an overrated team (USC) who beat an even more overrated team (Michigan) who with 2 losses (one to a weak PAC 10 team) really didn't even deserve to be in the Rose Bowl much less the top 5.

LOL X - you crack me up.

And Yeah Art -- I agree with you.  It's not that I really wanted OU to win -- it's that I had so many friends going for LSU that I HAD to go for OU.  LOL.  The BCS has really turned into $$ versus anything it seems and it's been like that for a few years unfortunately.  Which seems quite sad.  It is pretty pathetic when a team can play for the 'glass ball' and not having even won their conference.  Was neat seeing a freshman get mvp - but I imagine a few people might have been a tad disappointed.  But -- he played well IMO.

its just shorter name for football, all this stuff you'll need to learn when you gert here, like there are 4 types of footie rugby league, rugby union, AFL, and Soccer. Some pansies over here play Griniron(american football), but there mainly that weird lot from Northern territory :)

Also you don't have a hotdag at the footie you eat a meat pie.

Well, I've never had beer so we'll have to see what happens there.

I used to play soccer actually - for 6 years - had a few good injuries (because I firmly believed ball > body) and one big knee injury which completely eliminated me playing the game ever again.

And...

QuoteAlso you don't have a hotdag at the footie you eat a meat pie.

I have no idea what a meat pie is (hamburger???) LOL - but I wouldn't even feed my dog a hotdog much less get one within 50 miles of my own mouth.  =)  I should probably go now as I can imagine where this conversation is leading now.....

wth leiyah, you don't drink beer and you don't eat hotdogs?  and you call yourself and american!  I mean c'mon, hotdogs are an american tradition.  More than that even, a hotdog is a perfect example of the american way.  Why, you take a bunch of stuff that has no place or usefulness, and it all comes together to form something great.  If that's not american i don't know what is!
Title: bcs lovin'
Post by: Leiyah on January 07, 2004, 11:13:53 PM
LOL.  Hrm well the no-beer thing is an interesting story but none the less, tis true.  Have only had a margarita and a couple daiquiris in my life.

And as for hotdogs - well - I don't eat hotdogs because they are fookin nasty!  They can contain up to 30% fat, animal byproducts such as kidneys, livers and hearts, turkey or chicken skin and fat in proportion to their carcass.  Hotdogs are not required to be dated (having a sell-by, use-by, expiration  or best-if-used-by date) and have been well studied and found to carry high amounts of harmful bacteria in them.  I don't eat animal by products like cow lips or whatever.  I am quite picky on what I eat - especially what kind of meat goes in my mouth.

Shutting up now....LOL

Animal by-products are considered as cusine in other countries.  Hearts, liver, chicken feet, intestines, eyeballs, brains, testicles, kidneys, snake and dog and fish heads all grace my gandpa's(he is Chinese) favorites list.

And no I haven't had a chance to eat Lassie yet as well as many other things on that list.

I'm a really really picky/fussy eater - I'm willing to bet your boys eat better than I do LOL.  It's easier to list what I do like than what I don't.  Actually -- (don't kill me Loh) he's gonna be cooking for me ALOT because daeum he make some stuff that sounds oh soooo good.

I'll admit though -- most of what i don't like is because of what it looks like or what it IS.  Like hamburger and caviar.  I hate hamburger because it looks soooo nasty before being cooked - especially ground round.  And Caviar - runny jello that is actually fish eggs?  omg /gag!  LOL.  I just can't in my right mind do that.

LOL Vivace - you're not helping me.... :p

I refuse to eat anything that is 'offal', requires pest control if you found one in your kitchen or is alive

my dad was in china and saw a dish called 3 sqeaks...it's baby RATS they sqeak once when you pick it up twice when you dip em head first in the sauce and lastly when you bite off their heads.....BARFFFFFF

or how bout live small squids...I saw it on a travel guide program...they put these things in their mouth and they tried to get back out again...yep anything that tries to get out of my mouth is free to go.

not that I'm not open to new tastes I've eaten loads of things most people wouldn't have.  I've had kangaroo and emu steaks.  Ground oven baked echidna is nice but a little fatty but hey it comes with built in tooth picks and how handy is that.  I've had both dog and cat in various resturants which is legal here so long as they are specifically bred for eating.   I've eaten snake and on one memorable occasion was offered steamed tarantuala.....UUUUG that would be about where my line begins to appear I think lol

Just dropped ice down my shirt because it fell out of my mouth laughing so hard at that sentence....  ><  COOOOLD!

Fizzy you are nuts!  How can you eat a kangaroo?  They are SO cute!  Not to mention dogs or cats.  Hrm....most exotic thing I've ever eaten?  Well I've had roasted pineapple before and that is REALLY YUMMY.  Actually -- I ate a live goldfish once on a dare in a game I played one night in highschool.  Thought I was gonna come back up =(  LOL.

Kangaroo are not cute and cuddly, neither are Koala's... they are viscious and nasty, dont been sucked in by the fluff.
Title: bcs lovin'
Post by: Fizzgig on January 08, 2004, 01:57:58 PM
Cute and cuddly generally hides teeth and claws that'll shred you.

Not to mention that Koala's will piss all over you given half a chance

Emu's will peck at you if you wear white

and if you stand up near a male kangaroo he'll think your trying to attack and attack right back.

even the playtapus while somewhat oddlooking is cute cuddly and has 5 inch claws.

wambats will bite and scratch and you can't even wack em over the head because the damn things like concrete.

I can't think of one cute AND cuddly australian animal.  all the cuddly ones are UUUUUUGGGGGGGGGLY.

OK Koala bears (http://community.webshots.com/photo/42506160/42510001kmSMVQ) are SO cute and cuddley - look, he's even smiling!  SO fuzzy and warm.  Wonder if they give good backrubs like my cat does.  And... kangaroos (http://www.uisgebeatha.org/claraandroo_0011_4.jpg) are so neat too -- I would love to have one around to ya know - get the mail or wash the truck or something and you could wrestle with em and maybe go for a walk at night or whatever.

LOL Lei, your so funny.

Grizzly bears look quite cute and fluffy from a distance too, but I wouldnt want to cuddle one.

Viv is so right, the hind legs of a male kangaroo would make a weightlifter proud, I hear a kangaroo can jump up to 9 meters in one bound.   That picture you have there looks like a baby kangaroo or a wallabie.  :D

and show none of their hard perminantly extended claws

a kangaroo is quite capable of leaning back on it's tail to kick and claw you with it's hind legs.  I heard this story about a guy who had a testical torn off during a kangaroo attack although the major damage is generally to your gut.

I will give you joeys though joeys are cute if disgustingly filthy.  During the entire time they inhabbit mum's pouch it doesn't get cleaned....EWWWWWWWWWWW

I dont know if appease is the right word...in my experience, men do housework to stop their women from crying hysterically in frustration when the room they just mopped was run through by the men after a pickup football game in the rain.....

Men clean for the same reasons they do anything else: to insure that they have a chance at getting some later on ;)

If not then we are football free but no ff3 secret of mana and chrono trigger free. That's how its supposed to be. Why do people forget the key element, "LOVE". It's only normal to put sex in first. Love is what makes sex so great...its the pinnacle of love making, not sex should make love so great. Love and sex arn't the same thing if thats what you meant.

Not knowing the difference, how they relate....or even what they truely mean. It sadens me really, the direction so many people go in and how much they miss.
