Hi guys. As you may have noticed I haven't been around lately.  For a variaty of reasons I just don't have the energy or interest to play EQ anymore so I am officially retiring.   I'll miss playing EQ with you guys, it has been a blast.  I plan to keep an eye on the boards, and feel free to drop me a line from time to time,  mikemowles@prodigy.net

Just spent an hour assembling an experience group.  The final person finally arrived and we were about to zone in when I go LD and the lock the server. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Crashed when I tried to zone out of PoJ (after getting flagged, woot!) and said zone unavailable when I tried to get back in, so guess I'm going to miss the servitor.

Thanks to Uno, Tez and Souls for helping and grats to Ealil, Targ and me :) on passing the trials.  Send me a tell if anybody needs help with a trial, especially Lego, Odi, and Tibbs (who waited patiantly, but there wasn't time for another go some needed to get to bed).

I know no one cares anymore (I mean its not even close to the top level anymore) but Ding level 60!  Been a goal of mine for quite some time, and I'd begun to doubt that I'd make it.

Last night I was confronted in CoM not by goos, spectors, and Black Reavers, but by a huge brigade of bald humans.  I had to leave early so I hit my gate potion and logged out in Thurg.  When I logged in and saw nothing but bald humans running around Thurg I realised what was wrong.

I had wrongly assumed loading in the Luclin and PoP CDs on my new computer would cover all the older expansions.  I found my Velious CD, but I can't find the dang Kunark one so if I seem a bit confused in Kunark until I find it, it's because to me Goos, Black Reavers and probably Sev all look identical to me :)  Anywhere else I seem confused at is just me being myself.

Well the Army decided they didn't need my services after all, so after going through a few weeks of physicals, shots and endless form filling out I'm a civilian again.  I'm surprised to find that I'm actually disapointed by this.

So anyway I'm back at least part time.  Managed to log on a bit the other day but crashed 3 times in the hour or so I was on.  I finally just got fed up and didn't log back in. (sorry Marn, I hope Ixi went OK).  So until I get a new computer my appearances will probably be rare.

I got a nice e-mail from Fizelle asking me where I was, and since I thought maybe some other folks might be curious as to my whereabouts as well.  

A month or so ago I hit one of those EQ doesn't seem fun to me anymore patches which strike me periodically and seem to be cured by just not playing for a week or two.  When I was starting to feel the online itch again I decided to try SB, which some old friends and I have been following and planning to try for years.  I like it, but my machine can't really handle it.  

Then I got recalled to millitary service.  I was an active member of the Army National Guard (for folks not in the US that's our militia or home-guard group, citizen soldiers/weekend warriors), and became an inactive member when I went to law school.  I have a year commitment left to the Guard (they helped pay for my undergraduate degree).  

My National Guard unit is going to be deployed in the begining of May, and we've spent the last few weeks preparing.  Don't worry, I'm not going to someplace hot and sandy, my unit is slated to guard a domestic millitary instalation for one year.  It's not exactly what I had in mind for this next year, but it's not the worst thing that could happen.

For the next 2 weeks we aren't drilling, but once we start I probably won't have any time for the next month and a half or so.  Once we're done training to do our jobs and are settled I should have a bit more time, but I don't expect I'll be able to sneak in much online time until June, and my laptop is the only computer I'll have until we get settled.

Anywho, that's what's going on with me.

Aire, Fiz, Uno, Tonz, Zax, Viv, and I got a chance to go to the Plane of Disease and play with the raid window (which is real cool and worked well).  Here's a shot of us fighting a typical PoD inhabitant -

Was out looking for Planes of Power and stumbled across this and bought it.  Not a bad little book although there are way better maps out there.  Included maps of most of the new planes.  One interesting thing is it included where all the portals to the Plane of Knowledge are;  all the starting cities, Nexus, Fironia Vie, Overthere, and the Great Divide.  Was kind of hoping they'd have Skyshrine, but oh well.

 Which really puts a damper on my Gnome/Halfling Hybrid breeding program. And I'd already managed to secure that funding from the Greater Erudite Center for Pest Management.

 Foul unrepentant racists, human rangers have accepted our half-breed brothers, our tiny dryadic brothers, and even our hobbit brothers. If you breed the hobbits with the gnomes, perhaps we will get a furry footed tinkerer who can extend the range on our bows and increase the damage on our arrows, look to the future. Besides, we can always blame them on the Paladins if they turn out wrong.

Necromancer: So...

Magician has had a long time rivalry with Necromancer due to pets.

Necromancer sigh disappointed.
Shadow Knight get negatively effected by the nerf as well.

Paladin: But you didn't get nerfed when we got nerfed for doing too much damage.
Rogue and Warrior finally notice Shadow Knight.

Cleric scouls at Ranger, Magcian and Shadow Knight while rezing Paladin again.

Ranger realises that Druid nerfs tend to hit Rangers.

Bard plays a minature violin for Paladin.

Everyone but cleric: NERF Clerics!!!
Verant nerfs Clerics.
Beast Lord summons Beast Lord's Warder.
Paladin [teasing Ranger]: Beast Lord summoned a pet ranger.
Ranger whispers to Paladin: I *WILL* get you for that!
Paladin casts Brells Mountainsous Barrier on Ranger but it doesn't take hold.
Ranger smirks at Paladin while aiming his bow at Veeshan.
Paladin panics.
Magician and Shadow Knight prepare to cast spells.
Veeshan: PALADIN!!
Warrior [who is clueless as to what is going on]: ***!!!! I HAD AREA EFFET TAUNT GOING AGIAN!!!
Cleric rezes Paladin again.

Ranger points to Beast Lord's Warder.
Magician: I'm annoyed that Fluffy can't zone like Beast Lord's crappy pet. Can we nerf him?
