EQ2 & The Keepers / Server Highkeep
November 15, 2004, 04:21:14 PM
What's your name on Highkeep Saif?  I think that's going to be my primary home although I'll play on Najena as the fancy takes me.  My name is, of course, Kazaba.

I also had a nice chat with Sd last night, but I forgot to put her character on my friend list so I now have no ideaz what it is.

Maybe we should start a Keepers chat channel.

Ronik don't do Mistmoore, I'm pretty sure all of us have given up on MM because it seemed to be the most crowded and least stable server.  Most folks are on the Highkeep or Najena servers

EQ2 & The Keepers / EQ2 Qeynos tips
November 12, 2004, 05:55:41 PM
1) Find a map of antonica and print it out.
You can find a good map at http://www.clanwhitestorm.com/eq2info/

The city zones all have decent in game maps, but the Antonica map is a reveal map (you can't see an area until you explore it) so printing out a map will keep you from having to ask questions that have allready been asked in /ooc a hundred times in the last hour

2) Start your Hallmark quests as soon as you can.

Your citizenship quest is pretty straight forward (note, after you finish collecting tokens click on the city sign again to get to the last part) but your class quest can be time consuming.  Get started in it as soon as possible.

3) Bags

Any bag over 4 slots is currently rare and valuable.  I know 1 quest for an 8 slot bag and one for a ten slot bag.

In Nettleville Hovel, Verth will ask you to pick up some illegal freeport ale from his brother by the mariner's bell.  Go get the ale from the brother but DON'T give it to Verth.  Talk to one of the guards (Knight-Captain Hastings maybe?   I'm not sure, but it will say in your quest log) and you will get an 8 slot bag as a reward.  Verth will only give you a few copper

The other one is a bit more involved.  At about level 10 go to Antonica and kill the rats and snakes near the gates.  Eventually a book called something like "Bootstrutter's guide to Antonica" will drop (it will be in a treasure chest, if you are not a scout make sure you are at full health when you open chests or a trap might kill you.  Rogues can disarm them).  Examine the book and it will give you a quest "tour of Antonica."  The map you printed out of Antonica will help you greatly on this quest, but it will take some time even then.  Remember Griffins and sprint are your friends.   MAke sure you get this quest before you hit about level 14 because rats and snakes will start to grey out and will no longer drop treasure chests when grey.  Also, there is a quest in N. Qeynos (From Knight Lieutenant Alesso near the castle gate) "Civil service" Which requires you to kill rats snakes and beetles.

4) Delivery (Fed-Ex) Quests

I suggest doing these first as they are easy and give you a chance to get to know the city while getting some experience.  As a matter of fact, you can get from the island to level 11 or 12 without killing anything except the things for your citizenship and class quests.  Some of the parts of the class quests require some  running around so it is often convienant to do some of these quests at the same time.

OK after tonite you wouldn't have to twist my arm too much to switch servers, but someone else has to choose, I don't want to be blamed if that one turns into the next big crasher

Personally I say we stay, and if there is a server split at some time in the future we take advantage of it.

Slams you probably couldn't create a character when you tried because the server was down.  I don't think they are ever full.

BTW I've had a real light work load this week and have been playing like mad, last time I checked I was second in quest completed on MM (by one quest) and 5th or 6th overall.  Yes I am a big enough geek to feel rather proud of that :)  Won't last long though, don't think i'll be able to play much this weekend

I don't think there's anything stopping new chars on MM, made one this morning.

However, I won't deny it is packed.  I've progressed far enough that I want to stay, but not so far that it would break my heart to move.  If we do decide to move we need to do it soon.  Najena is just as packed as MM btw, if we move should be to one of the new servers, Kithicor perhaps

I don't think that's the full list.  I think they were fiddeling around with the new website and forgot to remove access.  I say this because they mentioned "dozens" of servers in the e-mail they sent out at the end of beta, and the link to this list went dead shortly after a few news sites posted it.

Personally if this is not the full list I think we should avoid the listed servers since I'm betting loads of guilds/organizations are deciding that they are going to be on one of these servers and they will be packed at launch.

If they keep up with the EQ1 zone names theme these are the potential "K" zones -

Kaladim
Kael Drakell
Kaesora
Karnor's Keep
Katta Castelleum
Kedge Keep
Kerra Island
Kithicor's Forrest
Kurn's Tower
Kerafrym's Lair
Plane of Knowledge
Kod'Taz

With the exception of the European servers the list that appeared were all original EQ dungeon zones, so Kedge Keep seems the most likely "K" server.

In Qeynos there's no SK's, Brawlers, Brigands, Asassins, Necromancers, or Coercers.  Also Yamp rangers are much different in EQ2 then EQ 1.  Hell you can be a gnome ranger if you want to combine Kane and Yamp.

Also, Dark Elves, Trolls, Ogres, Iksar, and Ratonga have to start in Freeport, but can betray Freeport.  (They have to do this between level 15 and 17, having friends in Qeynos will help a lot, or at least I'm lead to believe so.)
So if you start one of these races we won't see a lot of you for the first week or so, but that's really not that long all things considered.

So the plan is officially if there is A Saryrynn (I hope not I'm sick of mispelling it!) we go there, otherwise we go to the first server that starts with a "K" then the first server that starts with an "O" and lastly the first server that starts with an "F" if there are none of these, pick a server at random and then post it here.  Everyone agree?

If it hasn't changed form the last days of Beta, to start a guild we'll need 6 Qeynos citizens and 60 silver.  BTW 60 silver is a lot more then you think it is.  Coin does not drop from mobs and 1 platinum = 100 Gold, 1 Gold = 100 Silver and 1 silver = 100 Copper in EQ 2.  I never had more then one gold to my name, and I made it to level 20 before they shut the beta servers down today.

I'm going to be playing EQ2.  If there's a server that starts with "k"  (for Keepers) we should choose it, if not the first one that follows in alpha order.

BTW do you guys plan to be a goody 2 shoes Qeynosian or a mean and nasty Freeportite?  I plan to reside in Qeynos, mostly because the Statue of Queen Antonia gave a mighty cool speech the other day that finally convinced me that Heather Grahm was a pretty competant Queen after all.
