OOC Note - There's a few light spoilers in this, but I've tried to keep them to a minimum
Post-Cataclysm Qeynos and the surrounding area - A Tourists Guide, by Kazaba Evilbane XI, Esquire
Welcome to Qeynos! As a newly arrived refugee the town and surrounding area may seem a bit confusing, as such I've prepared this guide as a bit of an introduction –
OOC Note – Mariners Bells
Much like Venice Qeynos is full of canals. In many places you'll find a pair of bells labeled "Travel Within Qeynos" and "Travel Outside of Qeynos" when you click them they will bring up a list of zones that you can go to. When you chose the zone a Halfling will pull up and pole you to your destination. Unfortunately you will be looking at the loading screen at the time so you will never actually see the Halfling. Fortunately it will also spare you from listening to the Halfling's singing.
The following zones can currently be reached by the "Travel Within Qeynos" bell –
All Villages plus Qeynos Harbor
The following zones can currently be reached by the "Travel Outside of Qeynos" bell –
Antonica
The Caves (this is in fact the only known way to reach the Caves)
The Oakmyst Forrest
The Following zones cannot currently be reached by Mariners bells, but look like they have spots for bells to be installed in, so possibly reachable in the future –
North Qeynos
South Qeynos
The Eldaar Grove
Qeynos is divided into Villages and city wards, only citizens can visit the city wards-
There are 6 villages
The Baubbleshire - Home of Gnomes and Halflings
Castleview Hamlet – Home of Frogloks and High Elves
Graystone Yard – Home of Barbarians and Dwarves (and some Kerran)
Nettleville Hovel – Home of Kerrans and Humans
Starcrest Commune – Home of Erudites and Humans
The Willow Woods – Home of Half Elves (Dual Breed ) and Wood Elves
The 4 City Wards are -
North Qeynos – Contains the entrance to the Bayle's Castle, the Ironforge Estate, the Temple of Life and many shops.
South Qeynos - Is home to the mage tower, Adventurer's Housing (player housing) and the stables.
Qeynos Harbor – Home to the docks, 2 Taverns and many street merchants
The Eldaar Grove – City park and nature preserve
There are also several adventuring areas in and about Qeynos –
(ooc these zones are appropriate for characters of levels ~ 5-13)
The Down Below – Part of the Qeynos sewer system and catacombs. (At least two other sewer/catacombs zones exist The Vermin's Snye (for levels 14-20) and the Crypt of Betrayal (18-25 or so)
The Caves – Only reachable by the mariner's bell, these are well caves
The Forest Ruins – Wooded area which not surprisingly contains a large ruin.
The Oakmyst Forest – Wooded area with your normal and abnormal forest critters
The Peat Bog – Nasty Swamp area
Outside the main Qeynos gates are the great open lands of Antonica. Antonica is, in a word, huge. It will be a long time before you feel you've explored it all and even then you might surprise yourself with a new find.. Beyond Antonica there are the Thundering Steppes which is even more wild then Antonica.. Off of Antonica are the Gnoll lair of Blackburrow and the haunted keep of Stormhold.
This concludes my intro to Qeynos and the surrounding lands, in the days to come I'll spotlight each of the Qeynos Villages and City Zones and perhaps some of the Adventuring areas as well.
