I seriously considered doing the same thing, but I haven't convinced myself to download it yet.  After finally breaking free from the MMO habit, I get nervous about allowing myself to play games without a pause button.

But...it sure is tempting.  Those were some awesome times.

Not sure what made me think of it, but I found myself reminiscing of the good ole days and felt like stopping by to say hi.  I don't have much time for games anymore, but it's funny how the few that I play are always compared to the classic days of EQ.  Seems like nothing ever quite meets the mark for having as much fun as I did back then.

Anyway, I hope all of you are doing well.

By pure chance, I just happend to come across the url for the board stored away in some old files.  So, I thought I would stop by and say hello. It's encouraging to see that so many of the core crowd still occasionally post here.

As far as games go, I really have given them up.  Just about the only thing I ever play is Xbox 360 from time to time.  If any of you play on XBox Live, my handle is Zorvic.  Send me a message sometime, but I haven't logged onto it in a while.

I got into PlanetSide pretty heavily for a while.  Then, I played WoW for about a year and a half or so.  I had a 60 Hunter that I really enjoyed.  Then, I ended up messing around with a priest and it become my main character for a long time.  My 60 priest was the most fun I had since the good ole days of making my wrists hurt from twisting bard songs.  At any rate, it finally started getting stale and it was simply eating up too much time.  So, I quit.

It has taken me a long time to finally kick the habit, but I am done with MMOs.  I just don't have the bandwidth for it anymore between a 6 month old and work.  To a certain extent, work has become my replacement time sink for gaming.  I invest a lot of time in keeping up to date with never ending advances in technology related to my profession (software engineer), and it has been paying off.  Even though I don't really have the urge to play anymore, I still find myself occassionally thinking about the good ole days.  It is somewhat sad to realize how many days were spent playing that game, but they were some great times that no other MMO has ever lived up to.

As far as personal stuff goes, I have been married for almost two years now.  And, I have a six month old son (which, I think I posted about the news when we found out over a year ago).  It has been a wild ride adjusting to being a dad, but it has been fun at the same time.  Other than that, I have been extremely busy with work.  I just got back from a three week trip to Connecticut where I was doing some consultant work for a hedgefund company.  It was a cool place to work, but I am still tired from the 14+ hour daily grind.

Anyway, enough of my rambling.  I hope all is well with everyone.

Now that I re-stumbled across the forum, I will make it a point to stop by on more of a regular basis.

Later,
Zorvic - Retired Bard

A little late, but Belated Happy Holidays!

I have been suckered back into playing WoW again.  Some friends convinced me to create a new character on a different server.  I really liked my hunter, but I must say priests kick ass!  Anyway, hope all of you are doing well.

Later,

Amazing, so some people still check this forum?!

I am doing okay.  My gaming days have pretty much been eliminated.  I quit WoW back in April.  Since then, I have been pretty much focused on work and advancing my l33t programming skills.  Most of my spare time is spent reading or working on pet projects these days.  Occassionally, I still log on to PlanetSide, but not very often.  Currently, I am in the middle of a job transition.  I finally had all I could stand with my employer of four years (longest I have ever stayed in one place).  I recently accepted a System Engineer position with HealthSouth and start there at the end of the month.

That pretty much sums things up for me.  How are you other KoF survivors?

FYI: Artorious is still hit and miss on WoW.  He has started playing some of EverQuest 2.  Not sure about his character names...would have to ask.

I don't post a lot either, but I pop in once a week or so to see what is going on.

For the most part, I agree that I haven't really had any trouble with the maturity level of other players.  It also greatly depends upon the times that you play.  For example, late afternoon/early evening can be pretty bad with all the kids just getting home from school.  But, there will be a certain amount of those types in any game that you play.

Hunter is up to 29.  Holidays and work are slowing me down from leveling...contested zones on a PvP server are starting to make things more interesting as well.

Still having a blast tho.

Quote from: Fizzgigwould you believe that after harassing my local eb for 2 years to get eq game cards they got wow ones...when I said well where's the eq ones they told me more people play wow....I'm impressed seeing it's been out a week.
I am not sure how large the player base is currently.   However, over 500,000 people played during the beta and they supposedly sold over 240,000 copies on opening day.  It is a pretty cool game.  I am still just getting started since DSL won't be installed until Wednesday of next week.   Until then, I must endure the pains of dial-up.  /cringe

I will be the first to admit that the graphics are inferior to those of EQ2, but I don't consider the graphics of the game to be my primary factor in choosing one over the other.  (After all, we did all play EQ1 with stick-figure characters for a while.)  There is an enormous amount of content and I really like the interface as well as the gaming atmosphere...especially on a PvP server.

I seriously considered giving EQ2 a try, but I just can't bring myself to do it after the battle with myself over quitting EQ1.  Anyway, glad to see that "The Keepers" is alive and well.

I have been without internet since last Wednesday due to moving.  BellSouth delayed activating my phone line until today.  I should receive the DSL modem by mid-week...then, I will finally be playing.

My co-workers and friends are on the Sargeras server (Central PvP).  So, I will most likely play there as well.  If it things fall through for some reason, I will move over to your server...but I will have to kill you.  There is no way I am playing for the "good" guys.  :D

Artorious and I will be playing.  There are several friends from work that will be playing as well.  During beta, we were on a PvP server.  If I had to guess, we will probably choose a PvP server again.  As far as I know, the server list for launch has not been published yet, but we will probably be playing on one of the central time servers...just depends.

I will probably be scarce until later in the week.  I am closing on my house tomorrow and have the joys of moving to deal with before Thanksgiving.  Assuming that BellSouth actually connects my service by Friday, then I will be on a lot over the coming weekend.

I will be playing a Troll Hunter.  (Yes, I want to be like Lohagen.)  Art and the others are all playing Horde characters of some kind as well.

Art has been tinkering with it a bit.  I am not sure of this character name(s), but I will try and get them for you.

Just to clarify...I was attempting to quote the lines from Atomic Dog.

In retrospect, I suppose it was rather lame.
