There are a large number of "Collection" quests in EQ2. These are parts of them. As you move around in the world you will find various items on the ground, usually marked by a question mark floating in the air, that when you examine the item begins a collection quest. These type of quests start on Refuge Island with the Shell collection and Feather collection. Once completed you take the collection to a person in North Qeynos for a reward.

When you walk through a non-city zone (the Oakmist forrest is my particular favorite) occasionally you'll see a glowing question mark on the ground.  Right click it and choose "harvest" and you'll come up with an item.  Right click that Item and you'll be asked if you want to add it to one of your collections.  Choosing a collection will initiate a quest and you'll need to collect 3-10 items of the same type and then turn them in to NPC Mervos Staddard (or something like that) in N. Qeynos for an item and some coin and a good bit of experience
